Long time no blog....
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 29 days ago on |
OK, yes, I admit I haven't posted on here in like 6 months. To be honest, I haven't had a lot of impetus to come here... sometimes I need to break away from computers and this website was one of those I had to stop going on to so often. I go to my myspace.com page more often (mostly to delete the spam friend requests).
Anyway, hello to all my friends from far away. I will be back on the east coast from June 11-15. I will be attending the Sox/Orioles game at Fenway on...

Anyone in Chicago help me?
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 6 months ago on |
I am going to the Windy City November 16th (Friday) to see the almighty MISSION OF BURMA!!! ... and I need someplace to stay... If anyone is interested (since I can get you into this show on my dime - or guest list) and would let me split the cost of a hotel room or let me crash on their couch, it would be HEAVILY appreciated. Also, I am interested in visiting the Polish section of Chicago the day after (sentimental reasons - my grandfather lived there for a time in the 1920's...

THE BOSTON RED SOX ARE 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS.
SAY IT AGAIN...
THE BOSTON RED SOX ARE 2007 WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS!!!
...wow... I never get tired of saying that...
(please notice I didn't mention Tweedledee/Tweedledum's (i.e. Buck & McCarver) yammering on about A-Fraud not going back to the MFYs while the Sox were ready to clinch - as a Surviving grady post said, there is a special place in Hell for those two - and the entire FOX network, I might add [because of their political...

WIN IT FOR...
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 7 months ago on |
There was a thread on Son of Sam Horn.com called "Win It For..." (later made into a book) right before the conclusion of the 2004 ALCS against the MFYs and since the Sox are in that same situation again - a must-win game to advance to the World Series - I thought it would be appropriate to have another thread...
That being said...
Win It For my grandmother, Mildred Porada, who passed away this past February at the age of 92. Along with her husband Stanley Porada...

That Sawxheads masthead above me...
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 7 months ago on |
I finally figured out why the Sgt. Pepper's Beatles are on the Sawxheads.com masthead - this is the 40th anniversary of the "Sgt. Pepper's" LP! Well, if we're doing LP anniversaries, why not have the Sex Pistols (30th anniversary of the "Never Mind The Bollocks..." LP) or Mission of Burma (25th anniversary of the "Vs." LP)on the masthead too?
("Never Mind The Tribe, Here's The Red Sox" LOL)

Calling all KC-area Sox fans for Saturday 9/22/07!!
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 8 months ago on |
I am planning to go to Coach's Bar and Grill (414 W 103rd St . Kansas City, MO 64114-4501 Phone: (816) 941-2286) as I understand they carry NESN. I want to see our boys beat Tampa Bay and at least secure a spot in the postseason (of course, the KC Royals have to help by beating Detroit tonight as well). Gametime is at 6:10 PM CST. Anyone else want to go there or is going there?? E-mail me and we can meet.

Some thoughts this week of September 10, 2007...
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 8 months ago on |
I posted this as a comment to someone else's blog but I'd like to hear the opinions of others more in tune with the BoSox than I:
1) Is it my imagination or is JD Drew finally getting it together? (hey, better late than never).
2) The Tampa Bay series (9/10-12) won't exactly be a cakewalk - they've been known to be spoilers.
3) How do people feel about the weekend series with the Yanks? Could the Boston boys get their April mojo back and sweep the Skanks (and return the "favor"...

SIGN THIS PETITION TO GET NESN BACK ON THE AIR IN SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT!!
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 8 months ago on |
http://www.petitiononline.com/NESNSoCT/
(the following description of the petition is from Townienews.com)
It's an online petition to get NESN back on the air in Southern Connecticut. Sure, there's always been this kind of invisible line drawn south of New Haven, where Sox fandom ends, and Yankee territory begins. BUT, there are still plenty of Sox fans south of Yaletown, AND it's called The NEW ENGLAND Sports Network. Last I checked Connecticut was still a part of New England. And I...

Looking for a green BoSox jersey for cheap...
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 8 months ago on |
I am looking for a green Red Sox jersey (like the ones they wore on St. Patrick's Day or when they had the Red Auerbach tribute game back in April). However, the sites I have visited charge an awful lot and E-Bay is no help either. Does anyone in the New England area know of a place where they sell good quality green jerseys for under $75? This place has to have a least a catalog or do sales through the mail (if not internet sales) as I live in Kansas City.
Thanks.

Taking a break from baseball
Mission of BurmaSox wrote this 9 months ago on |
Hello friends:
I have noticed that my obsession with the Sox and hinging my life on whether they win or lose (and if the MFYs win or lose) is not healthy and is starting to consume me like a cancer. It is affecting my mental stability (which was fragile to begin with, even with meds) and being isolated against my will in KS has amplified this lonlieness-based fanatacism. I need to take a break from following baseball and direct my energies elsewhere lest I go insane. I will still check...
