Meet and Greet with Sox Players a thing to remember
During this offseason, there is alot of touring of the World Series Trophy, and autograph sessions.
This is a time for the fans to really connect on a more personal level with the players. They see Pedroia making plays, Ellsbury's blazing speed, Lester's courageous comback. Yet, they see it all on television or in the papers the next morning.
For fans in small towns like Westbrook, Maine, it was a great chance for them to feel as if they are truly part of the Red Sox nation. When Jacoby Ellsbury made an appearence at a local Dunkin' Donuts to show off the trophy amongst other things like his now rock star status amongst the Red Sox female faithful.
It has to be a touching experience for fans of a small town like that. The larger media markets are more spoiled, as they could run into a superstar player at a gas station on his way to the ballpark. However, experiences like this for people in small towns have a long lasting effect much greater then any big city encounter.
If anyone has any other stories like this from past or present that they would like to share, I would love to hear them.
Go Sawx!
