Will Pedroia Hit for the Cycle?
July 2, 2008

I expect every RED SOX fan to say "YES!" All he needs now is a single. That would really be one of the sparks the Red Sox need after losing to the Rays two in a row and having a difficult time with the National League.

Let's hear it for DUSTIN!

ok, wait a minute. this has ALWAYS bugged me. I could understand wanting a cycle if what he had left to complete it, was a homerun. But he has a SINGLE left. Why on earth would you rather he get a single than a 2nd homer???

Scoobydo..
Because Boston is kicking butt and because sometimes we just want individual accolades to shine through for our players. Also it is history!!!

the cycle is a meaningless stats. Liek I said, if the home run was left, that woiuld be something ot strive for. It just doesn't make any sense the other way.

I agree here. Hitting for the cycle is exciting when you're just a round-tripper away. A series of homers right now would be great.

BoSox Ho..
I think you guys are missing the point. Since we are not going to expect Dustin to hit 5 Home Runs in one game, I think a HR, Triple, and two Doubles is quite awesome. He should be appreicated.

Nobody said we didn't appreciate it. We just said that pulling for a single when a homer is always better is ludacris. You're taking this too personally. Take the criticism, dude. Now is NOT the time. Understand?

All I know is that back in the day, Red Sox fans cheered for all sorts of special accomplishments. Of course I would rather have the win but, watching a cycle is nice to see and I expect the other players on the team to hit Pedroia home. That is Pedroia's made job to get on base and wait for the clean up crew to knock him home. So yeah, I would cheer on the cycle but, I guess such special feats in today's generation don't matter. That is a shame. ...View More

I was there last night and after the first double, I thought for sure he would go for the cycle. I would have love to seen it. I would have rather seen a win, but that is just me. I think Pedroia would have been OK with going 0-5 if the Sox got a win.
