Do to the numbness and tingling in Josh Beckett’s pitching arm Tito and Red Sox have decided to skip his scheduled start against the Yankees. Most Tim Wakefield will make his return to the rotation to fill the void in the rotation left by Beckett. Wakefield pitched a side session, on Saturday after being put on the disabled list on August 7, with tightness in his shoulder. In his last 12 1/3 innings Wakes is 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA. In 16-years against the Yankees Wakefield is 9-17 with a 5.14 ERA. Look for him to use his fluttering knuckle ball, to eat up the innings. The only downside on Wakes is he can give up too many hits and walks that can result in untimely runs, can be run on.

After sitting out four games do to back spasms Pettitte return the Sith’s rotation on August 20th to face the Blue Jay’s in Toronto. Pettitte only game up one hit, a run scoring single to Alex Rios, picking up his first win since July 26th over the Boston Jedi err Red Sox at Fenway. In 11 out of the past 27 starts Pettitte has given up five or fewer hits. This Season Pettitte is 1-1 against Boston this year with an ERA of 5.08.
