bostonherald.com - Josh Beckett is entering a new world, although it’s not the unfamiliar Far East territory the Red Sox ace thought he would be staring down.
Thanks to a balky back, gone are thoughts of pitching in Japan, replaced by the uncertainty that comes with the kind of physical challenge Beckett has yet to face in his seven seasons in the big leagues.
“Let’s not get the cart in front of the horse,” said Beckett yesterday regarding a timetable for his return to the mound. “Right now I want to get loose, throw at 90 feet and see how things go from there. This is an absolute day-to-day injury. I’ve never really had a day-to-day injury because the injuries I’ve had were always something else. I wish I had something to compare this to, but I don’t.”
