The Red Sox have the edge over the Yankees in pitching rotation but in my opinion the Yankees get the edge in the hitting.
The Red Sox offseason moves has shown RSN that the front office has a concern about the Red Sox offense going into 2009. Mark Teixeira? Hanley Ramirez?
Boston goes into Ft. Myers with injured sluggers Mike Lowell,J.D. Drew and David Ortiz fragile...Julio Lugo and Jason Varitek (if re signed) offensively challenged.
The Yankees line-up is healthy with the exception of Jorge Posada
and a fragile Johnny Damon.
Should be a more competitive AL East in 2009. ...View More ![]() |

Good pitching beats good hitting! plus defense. Before 2004, the Red Sox had many great teams built on hitting and we won nothing, so I'm not that worried about the Skanks. 12/31/2008 12:17 PM |

I agree Knarfy. Pitching and Defense wins games. It doesn't matter if your line-up can put up 10 runs a game. If your pitchers/defense can't stop the other team from putting up 11 runs, those 10 runs don't mean squat. 12/31/2008 12:50 PM |

Gotta remember run support helps a pitcher, in 2004 both Schilling and Lowe got over 7 runs per game in run support. This offense we have now will not be able to do that. 12/31/2008 1:35 PM |

Run Support is nice, but ERA is the most important number! 12/31/2008 1:40 PM |

Look atchyouall, countin' us down b4 the music starts. It is quite unusual that WE are the ones that all teams measure themselves on, isn't it? That's why it wasn't so important for us to make a splash this off-season as it was for the Skankees. It takes some getting used to, for sure and I don't know what will happen form now till the intro but what I DO know is that I am happy with where we are at going forward and that there is time (and right now WE may still have the MONEY) to make trades mid-season. Think the Skankees will??
Ok, so I'm putting a bit of a spin on things but I still like our chances. ...View More ![]() |
