2007 MLB Postseason ScheduleFor my first Sawxheads.com blog I thought I would take a look at MLB's new postseason schedule for 2007. The first change they made is to start the LDS a day later than before. The second change was to give a travel day after game 4 if a 5th game was needed. The next change they made puzzles me a bit. In both LCS they play two days, have a travel day like normal; but after playing games 3 & 4 they take another day off prior to game 5. The reason this puzzles me is that what this does is have two games on Monday (competing with MNF) and has only one game per day from Tues-Fri. The World Series schedule also could have been thought out better in my opinion. They decided to push back the start of the World Series to Wednesday night. The World Series then goes Wed, Thur, Sat, Sun, Mon, Wed, Thur. Again they have to compete with MNF. This will be the first year they have had a World Series game on Monday night in as long as I can remember. Why not start the World Series on Tuesday night since the latest any of the LCS can go is Sunday? If you start on Tuesday then you avoid competing with MNF. I know that FOX had a lot of influence on the changes that were made to the postseason schedule. FOX is the only over the air network that seems to want to have anything to do with MLB so they have to keep them happy.. -weirdobob
