Well close to 35,000 Red Sox fans were packed into Fenway Park for the start of what will soon be recognized as the longest sellout streak in Major League Baseball history… 456 consecutive sellouts at Fenway Park.
Earlier this year Larry Lucchino said, “The sellout streak is not a Red Sox record; it’s a Red Sox fans record.”
A sellout streak of 456 games is a reflection of the commitment demonstrated by Red Sox fans all over the world. It’s also a reflection of the commitment demonstrated by the Red Sox front office. Fans pay the highest average ticket price in baseball and the Red Sox reinvest that money into the team and the Ballpark. As we all know this is not the norm in professional sports.
So where will you be on September 8, 2008? Any chance you will be one of the fans taking part in history at Fenway Park?
By the way, 2 free hot dogs for anyone that has been to every game throughout the entire streak... This offer does not include Dennis Drinkwater of Giant Glass - we all know that he doesn't miss a game.
