Opening Day 2008

Nothing like waking up as usual and there is a ball game. I'll miss the game on tv though because I'm headed into work. But I'll listen to the game on the radio. And I'm sure there will be rebroadcasts too.I'm not sure what to expect from this season. The early schedule looks like it'll be a killer. The Red Sox go up against the heart of the American League's best; the Tigers, Indians, Yankees, and even Toronto. The Sox just have to make it through April and the rest of their...

I finally got my tickets to the Yankee game in April. Oh yes. I'm still surprised I was able to get them so easily from redsox.com. Good stuff. I'm excited about them. Its my first Sox/Yanks game in person.

The Red Sox are close to re-signng Curt Schilling. Good news. The deal works for the Red Sox. Also he'll help the team down the stretch into the playoffs. The Sox also picked up the options on Wakefield and Tevarez. Kind of surprised thy picked up Tevarez's option but he was able to help the team in the first half this past season. I don't think they'll res-gn Timl;in though. They might re-sign Lowell ifthe number of years is good. Should be...

game four and series...
|
|
bostondave wrote this 1 year ago on |
Game Four was a bit of a nail biter. It certainly started off well for the Sox. Getting on top in the first was a key to their victory. It put more pressure on the Rockies. John Lester was good enough through five plus innings. It was impressive for a guy who was just dealing with cancer. Its one of those great stories in the series. The bullpen did make things interesting. Okajima most of been feeling the effects of pitching so many days in a row. He gave up a gut...

Wow. Another thrilling win by the Red Sox. They certainly make it interesting ...at least for a while. When the Sox went up six nothing, I though the game was well in hand. Who knew that DiceK could hit too. heh. It was great to see.DiceK also pitched a pretty good game though I would of liked him to go deeper into the game but five plus innings was better than the 4 2/3s he'd been doing. He just looked like he was hitting his spots and was not getting into the one bad...

game two

Wow. Game two was a lot closer than what most people had expected. It was far closer than I would of liked. I would of preferred another blowout. Who knew a young rokie would hold the Sox to just two runs. Of course he lasted less than five innings.Schilling was alright. He held down the fort to allow the lineup to score some runs. It wasn't great but t was enough. I hope he returns next season.Okie and Pap were great. The pickoff play by Pap was awesome....

Well that was a laugher of a game. Things weren't going to go well for the Rockies once Beckett had an easy first inning. And Pedroia had a lead off homerun. Who knew the game was over by first inning. It was just ridiculous. Men against boys. Francis looked like a kid out there. Maybe he will be better down the road but he was shell shocked. The Red Sox lineup is in the zone right now.I don't mind games like these ones. No drama or tenseness. I do expect the next three...

World Series thoughts

bostondave wrote this 1 year ago on |
The Red Sox are back in the World Series. Its hard to believe that this team is made it this far though. They had so many chances of failing through this season. Their lack of clutch hits and problems with the middle relief could of been the death nail. But they pulled through. Past Red Sox teams would of succumb to these problems. It does help that this team has overcome a lot. And that a lot of players are veterans and the rookies don't know better. They look unstoppable.

Last night, the Red Sox players who had been playing below their potentials all came through. The biggest being JD Drew coming through with the grand slam. It was amazing. You knew the game was over once he hit it. It was just a matter of getting Schilling to throw a gem. He was ok. He gave up only a couple runs and got out of a big jam in the third. Crazy. The lineup did redeemed itself even if Ortiz and Manny didn't do much. It was good to see the other guys get hits. They really...

Another season ending game is upon us and its rather a daunting task. The Indians have been a tough team and only Beckett has been able to stop them. Will Schill be able to step up? He has too. If not, its almost a guarantee that he'll be gone next season. If he wins tonight, the chances are good he'll be backI'm glad Jacoby is in the lineup. Its about time. The Sox bats really have to get the lead and score. That would definitely help Schill get into his game.

Well its step up or shut up time for the Red Sox. The guys seem loose or maybe its just Manny being Manny. I wish some of the players would take his thoughts to heart. Do your best, and if its not enough, there is always next year. Don't sweat it. HA. Goofy bastard.I would be sweating it if I paid big bucks to see them. huh?Anyways tonight, I think the Red Sox have a very good chance of winning the game. Beckett is very reliable and should keep the team deep into the...

Well that was a craptastic game. There is very little you can say that is positve. Sure they hit back to bak to back homeruns but that was too little too late. If you're hoping they will make a come back like in 2004, it probably won't happen. This team as its constituted isn't built to hit. There are too many holes in the line up. In 2004, the lineup hit all around and had a lot of comebacks throughout the season. This year, this team had a only a handful. The manin...

Well that game sucked. Good thing I went to bed early. After the Sox couldn't score with the bases loaded, I knew it was over. The offense just wasn't there. With Big Papi's knee acting up and the rest of the lineup hitting into double plays, you knew it would be a long night.Daisuke was not sharp at all but I think everyone knew the Sox would have to score a lot to win.Uggh. I have a bad feeling tonight.Hopefully Wakefield can keep the bleeding to a...

Well its another game tonight and we're all pinning our hopes on Daisuke. Its crazy how along season boils down to just a few games. One can only hope he pitches a good game into the seventh. I think the bullpen needs it. I really hope we've seen the last of Eric Gagne on the Red Sox. Its just pathetic how bad he has thrown. Perhaps he's only good for blowouts. smirksIt just feels like the air has been let out of the balloon. The Red Sox weren't going to...

Ok so I was totally wrong in my predictions for game one. It was such a hitting clinic by the Red Sox. It was not even close. Beckett was excellent and limited his mistakes to just the one homerun. Manny and Big Papi were on FIRE along with the rest of the lineup. Tonight might be a different story with Carmona. He might be tricky for Big Papi and co though. It'll be very interesting to see how the Sox bats do. I don't think they'll score ten runs again but it'd certain be nice,...

Tonight's game looks like it'll be a tough one. Perhaps it'll be a pitching duel. I don't know. Beckett and CC might make it a quick night if it is one. One can only hope that the Sox bats can warm up in the cold weather. The wind is blowing out.It should be a good game and series. I say Sox in 6 or 7 games. One can hope that Daisuke and Wake can be in top form.Go Sox!!!

Ahh nothing like seeing the Yankees sweat and lose big to the Indians. GRIN Of course the Indian bullpen could give up the lead too. Never know. The boys looked great. Beckett was awesome and looked like the ace he's supposed to be. Big Papi hit another bomb. It was spectacular. I am aprehensive about tonight's game though I really shouldn't. The Angels are up against it. Lackey sucks here and they are missing a lot of their starting lineup. It should be a good game and series. Hopefully the Red Sox can win it with any problems.Beckett has owned the Angel's hitters this season. It all seems to easy. And the Red Sox never make these type of games easy.
