Just In: Beckett To DL
August 29, 2008

According to RedSox.com the Red Sox have placed Boston ace Josh Beckett on the 15-day disabled list with an irritated elbow. The move is retroactive to August 18.

The roster spot left by Josh Beckett will be replaced with triple-A catcher, David Ross. In 15 games with Pawtucket, David Ross is hitting .207 in just 58 at bats. Ross also has two home runs and 5 RBI in his brief stint with the Paw Sox and is slugging .379 with a weak .254 on base percentage.

It's more of a formality thing than the injury thing;they have already said that they expect him to pitch against Texas next week.Nothing was found during his exam with Dr.James Andrews earlier today...

"The news on Josh Beckett is becoming a little clearer. Beckett visited with Dr. James Andrews today and tests on his right elbow all came back clean, according to Terry Francona. If all goes well, Francona said he expects Beckett to be back to start the first game of the Rangers series, which is next Friday in Texas."--Extra Bases

The real question then is what was it? If it was clean and he had tingling, it was something.
