RED SOX 2008
I'd like to start off by discussing our pitching. Bryan Corey has being playing with a lot of heart. He's showing great determination to earn that starting rotation spot. He may not have a ton of experience playing for MLB, but he sure is proving a lot to the fans and to the whole organization. In the Grapefruit league he has a 1.17 ERA. I don't believe he's necessarily a shoe-in for the spot, but he sure as hell will give it a fighting a chance.
Dice-K will be the opening day starter. No suprise there. With Country sitting this one out and all. Get to that one later. From what I gather, Dice-K feels pretty comfortable pitching at the Tokyo Dome. So we may have a slight advantage over our adversaries.
Buchholz and Wake will probably pitch that outting in LA next weekend. Wake seemed pretty upset to lose Doug seeing as they were use to each other and worked well together. But like I've said to a few of you on here, any good catcher should be able to adapt fairly quick to the ever changing pitches. If Doug doesn't return this time around, somebody else will learn and hopefully will do just as well if not better.
Colon. **Shaking my head** I am lessed than impressed with that guy. He looked shaky on his debut last week and just looked flat out terrible yesterday. He better get his stuff together because we have a championship to defend.
The only other pitcher I'd like to pick at is Country. I'm actually really glad to hear that he'll be sitting out the Japan games. It's best to take it easy, stay in the states and rest. It's something that he was able to shake off pretty easily (duh) and they made some wise decisions with him. I'm keeping the faith that he'll get that Cy Young award this year.
Now onto the Sox as a whole. I'm not really happy with the fact that the Skanks are doing better than us in the preseason. I know, I know... it's not all THAT important. But it is to me. Let's hope that the scummy skanks take a nose-dive once the season starts. I have faith in JD this upcoming season. He's been fairly consistant in the preseason. And how about Manny actually showing up on time!? That's always good news. Our ROTY kid is looking pretty solid too. I think we have a solid team this year. I like how the front office is really getting their hands dirty and seeing what our farm has to offer. They've always been pretty good about that.
I can't believe I left Schill out. What do you guys think? I'm kind of mixed when it comes to him. I would like to see him come back so he can teach these kids a few tricks. I don't really like the fact that they told him "surgery and no go, bro". Either way he plays it, he wouldn't be back until after the all-star break anyway. So I guess I'm not really all that mixed, huh?
I'm glad to see Mikey. I just like to watch that man play. A seasoned vet such as himself still going out there and pouring his heart and soul into the game. Same goes for V-tek. I'd like to see him retire in a Sox uni. These guys better not give him up. He may not perform (batting wise) the way he use to, but I still couldn't imagine this team without him on it. The OF situation is something I'm really wishy-washy about. Jacoby is a good ball player. No doubt about that. I'd still like to keep watching for a bit before I base any judgements in that department.
So here's to the Boston Red Sox 2008 season. GO SOX FOR ETERNITY!! RSM FOR LIFE!! FAMILY/RESPECT/LOYALTY. Family ALWAYS comes first, my friends.
