Colon pitched well - not great, but encouragingly - at Fenway Park and was credited with the victory in the Red Sox’ 6-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals. The right-hander’s $1.2 million salary kicked in when the Sox purchased his contract from Triple-A Pawtucket before the game and while he can earn plenty more with incentive bonuses, the club found itself with a Cy Young winner from just three years ago pitching like a bona fide, good-enough-to-win starter."
