9/11 attacks leave lasting thoughts
sportsgal found this 2 months ago on www.bostonherald.com

Many of you have posted thoughtful, moving blogs today about how the terrorist attacks of September 11 have forever changed your lives. A sentiment that I keep reading is that although we are all individuals, we belong to one nation and so felt this tremendous pain collectively. As Americans, we grieved together and for the past seven years have worked on healing together.

As sports fans, we often put our hero athletes up on pedestals; because they achieve feats that we cannot, we worship their abilities When I read this piece in the Boston Herald, it reminded me of how sports figures, like Tim Wakefield and Lou Merloni (as featured in the article) are only different from us in what they do for a living. The terrorist attacks affected members of the Red Sox too and I'm glad that the Herald put something out to remind us of this, and to more closely bond us with the boys on the roster.
