Tek will continue to switch hit
USA RET found this 29 days ago on www.hardballtimes.com

Tony Massrotti talks to Jason Varitek about the possibility of ditching the switch and hitting only right-handed:

"Oh my goodness. Hell, no," Varitek said this morning at the Red Sox' spring training complex. "Have you ever all of a sudden tried to hit right-on-right when you haven't done it in 15 years? . . . I've heard that offered a few different times whether [it was suggested] in the media or whatever, but it's ludicrous."

I would like to see him focus on one side of the plate however at this point in his career comfort and confidence play vital roles! If he isnt comfortable hitting right on right it would be foolish to ask him to do so!

Me too but I did think it was an interesting read I also heard it debated a bit on WEEI via internet.

Nothing against you KY, but the article was written by someone names Shyster. I cant (and wont) take him serious. Tek has been working his ass off trying to fix what ails him. Lets seem him hit before any faith is lost.

Wasn't that a great interview. He loves this team. As we the fans love him. GO SOX

No one is losing any faith, its a very hard thing to switch hit, at ANY level, let alone the major leagues.

Love if you clock on the article and read it he is citing an article from Tony Maz and if you actually do read it click on the red link at the top and it takes you to the Boston.com original article. Shyster is doing nothing but we do here commenting on and posting an article on that site.

See that now Ky ... but was referring to the "crap" at the bottom of the link when you click "Tek will continue to switch hit" Shyster says "My guess is that what ails Jason Varitek is the sort of thing that can only be fixed with either severely limiting his playing time or via the purchase of a time machine, not by futzing with his switch hitting."

Yup all we can do is hope he at least hits from one side or the other with his old form.

Tek's right-handed hitting is pretty solid. I agree with Nick, he needs to focus on one more than the other. When push comes to shove, it's good to know he's still flexible.
