Instant Replay: Yay or Nay?
August 27, 2008
Do NOT get me wrong, when the Sox get robbed of homers because the umpires make a swirly-finger-in-the-air call, talk about it, agree they're blind and reverse the run, it really burns me up! Or when the ball hits the top of the wall and bounces upward and back onto the field, clearly a home run, and the umpires think they can deny the law of physics by saying the ball's still in play, I get really fired up! But what about when that happens to the Yankees? We cheer! So while we hate when calls don't go our way, do we really want to risk a call going in favor of our opponents thanks to advances in modern technology? I'm gonna go with no on that one. Instant replay's like a gateway drug. First they'll use it to determine homeruns when they're in question. Next they'll be doing replays on tags and balls and strikes and did Youk just scratch his nuts in the dugout? Yeah, exactly. I say NAY to the whole instant replay thing. It'll suck the fun and adventure right out of the game. And it'll leave a lot of guys with itchy nuts.
