HAS THIS SEARCH FOR RSN PRESIDENT LIVED UP TO THE HYPE ?
September 29, 2007

To be honest with you all ...... No. If you wanna talk about if the hype is big on Myspace, Then I would say hell yea it has been. But out side Myspace??? the only mention you hear about it in the media is on NESN ...other then that you get the rest of the media in the papers and radio making fun of this so called Campaign. They are making fun of the Candidates. I wont say who they are making fun of but we all know who they are. .You know when I posted a bulletin Yesterday afternoon, about how WEEI was making fun of one of the Candidates I got a lot of messages about it. I had people saying oh they are just jealous of them , or I would get messages saying how rude it was of these people making fun of a 18 year old . And after I read all your guys messages I kinda felt bad for these guys. Here you have people in the media mocking these guys who really want to be the President of RSN..

So this is what I came up with, I figure you really have to look at both sides before you can judge something. So for the last 2 weeks I have talk to members of the media , fans , and I got their take on the RSN President search.  For the most part of the Media they say the Sox are doing this whole thing for like a promotional purpose for what who really knows. Maybe to get more fans to sign up for one of their little Red Sox Nation cards. I will get to that in a lil while but I wanna get back on track . Then I hear that the sox, from both Media and fans , that the sox are trying to take something that don't belong to them. That is RED SOX NATION. Red Sox Nation is the fans am I right ? How can the team clam something that was started by fans?? I had one well known Red Sox sports Writer tell me the other day... ". Nuf-Ced  McGreevy was alive today and the Red sox said that you would have to pay for a Card saying that you are a member of Red Sox Nation... He would prob turn around and bend over and tell the ownership to kiss his ass " .  How are you gonna charge Red sox fans a fee for a card that says we are in the Nation ? I said to him you cant, You cant charge something that was created by the fans. If it was not for the Nation... Red Sox wouldn't be be what it is today.

So when you have media personal and fans saying that this whole RSN President Search is a joke and should not even be talking place. And I think after watching the movie / tv show Rooters " the birth of red sox nation" and if you have not seen it check it out it's a great story. But back to what I was saying after seeing that and how the fans took to the sox and how the nation was behind them even travel with the team to root for their beloved team. These guys lived breath Red Sox These 250 fanatic fans are the ones who started the nation and as Generation and after Generation the nation as grown to millions and millions. How are the Red Sox going to take over the Nation ? Is this a Goverment ?? They are acting like it. Having you pay a fee from 20 - 200 dolllars to say your now a member of Red sox nation. No No No you cant put a price on the love I have for the game and for this team. This is ours ....this is our Nation we are a family. With out us you could not fill the seats at fenway with out us you would be the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. With out us there will be no rivalry with New York. With out us your nothing. We are the ones that are paying for over price tickets. We are the fans that spend 500 + for bleacher seats to see the redsox play the Yankees. How dare you Try to take something that don't belong to you. Why is it that you only hear about this President search on NESN ??? Why with all the millions and millions in the nation you only get 160,000 votes for the top 11 im sure you would prob have more then that if you were not charging to be a member. you know what if I was RSN President my first act would make sure that everyone who was a fan would get their card for free. And then my 2nd act would to have a show on NESN for the fans brought to the fans from the fans. And have them ask the tough question that we want to know that the media don't ask. I would also have at least 3 games a year free to all who wants to come and watch the sox. For the fans who cant get tickets due to prices. And I would like to have a game played with the redsox Verus the best Prospectus in our farm system.  But im not Running for President.

So is this search going to be a Success ?? No the Sox will play it off like it was but when the Media don't show it any love .... or our beloved sports radio don't either. We all will come to see that what the Sox tried to do was a failure. To all the Candidates I wish you all the best of luck. You guys went out there and did your best. But when all said and done... the Sox will not do this again next year.

Do we really need a President ? Do we really need someone to speak for us ?? No we don't ...we have our own voice what do you think blogs, are for what do you think we use myspace for to connect with other sox fans. We don't need one person to speak for us. We are a Nation with in us. Its in our blood , hearts , its everywhere when you're a sox fan.. When you walk down the street and you see another fan with a hat on or a shirt, And what about when your standing in line at a check out and a fan says hey how about that game last night or who's pitching tonight... you got 2 people talking to each other. Two strangers... but its like having an extended family when your in the nation. Its fans that love the game. Its fans that will argue about who the sox should get in the off season. Its fans that go out drinking together after a game.

My family been a season ticket holder for as long as I can remember. And before my grandfather past away he left me his season tickets. And since 1997 I have been to at least 70 of all the home games every year. I have not miss a Red Sox / Yankee game in Fenway. I prob have well over 150 redsox tee's and I can go on and on .... but what im tryin to say is that after im gone the Nation will still be here .... and after my kids are gone it will still be here. The Nation is not going anywhere. Its here to stay. Its growing everyday. So Red Sox ownership you my  own the team but you don't own use. We can have more Control with this team then you might think . We are the fans that pay these players salaries you might write the checks but we give you our hard earn money, to watch a team that we love very much

Dear~Red Sox Prospectus--I think you have written an incredibly convincing essay here. However, I just want to add my two cents' worth here, since I was one of the people who decided to "run" for the "presidency" of Red Sox Nation, and actually made the first list of "finalists," which actually turned out to be the semi-semi-finalists. Anyway...I think everyone is taking this whole thing WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. For me, it was fun from the get-go, a way to show my 51-plus years of fan-dom for the team I have loved since I was in the second grade at the Johnson School in North Weymouth, Massachusetts. Like everyone on Sawxheads, I live and breathe with this team, I have no fingernails left from biting them during this time when we have been waiting for them to win (YAY!!!), I walk the floor and pace in tense situations (I have a husband who neither understands nor likes sports, but he tolerates it while I watch on the computer), and I cherish the one or two games a year for which I can get tickets. I have also been a professional public relations person for more than 29 years (I just lost my job due to a downsizing thing), and I recognized the RSN "presidency" for what it is--a publicity event--and I do believe that it could have been handled in many different ways with better outcomes for both the fans and the team/team management/team image; however, perhaps they have learned a few things with this year's "race" for the presidency and may or may not do it again. From a PR perspective, it is kind of an interesting concept, and it was a way for the Red Sox brass to glean some neat ideas from the "candidates" that may be helpful in improving both community and fan relations in short- and long-run sitations. Again, I took it as fun, laughed through the whole process (although I must admit, I was a little non-plussed to see that I had been replaced on the second finalist list by other people whose names had not been on the first list--the "semi-finalists," I guess). I had the chance to meet some incredible people, like Greg, Jared, Rob, Sam, Doris, Cheryl and their friends and families. I laughed like crazy when they gave their speeches and made jokes. I live in upstate New York, so it's always nice for me to fraternize with Red Sox fans, people who understand where my wicked loyalties to the team come from. So I think people need to lighten up, enjoy the postseason, and if you and just keep the faith. Whether or not RSN has a president has no bearing on anything whatsoever, but it sure was fun for me to get to meet new people--people with whom I hope to keep in contact for a good long time, thanks to the Internet. And you are also sooooo right when you said that when you're standing in a line and start talking baseball with people around you, you make new friends. I even love going to Fenway by myself when I can get a single seat, because I always come home, driving down the Mass Pike, thinking about the new people I have met at Fenway Park. The people of RSN are truly the best, the salt of the earth, the most loyal, the most focused, the most incredible fans in the world. I am proud to call myself a member of RSN, both officially and unofficially. It is an honor and a privilege to be on this Web site with all of you. Now, we have a postseason to win!!!
