Headed to Boston Friday afternoon in a monsoon...rained like crazy all the way into the City. Met Scott at the Marriott in Cambridge and got myself organized for the big game. Umbrellas, sweatshirt, raincoat, rainpants, towel, jersey, hat, etc. I wasn't sure of if we'd get the game in, but I checked my trusty Blackberry and Accuweather's radar and forecasts showed we would have a break about 8pm. Got the breaking sports e-mail that the Pesky deal was pushed to...

Manny being...a Moron
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 5 months ago on |
Ok, I've been on Manny's side, but this year, he's lost it. I don't know how a guy making $20 million a year, playing a kids game is such a goober. The altercation with the Traveling Secretary, the roll over fish flop in the outfield, the "bad knee (not sure which one however)", it's all BS.
Manny had a chance to go down as one of the most beloved and worshiped Red Sox players of all time. Now, he's just a goof again. HE HAS BLOWN IT. ...

I saw the two grand slam game live!
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 7 months ago on |
I was sitting about 30 yards from Manny, in the left field seats yesterday...showed up about the second inning with a $60 ticket (face value was $85, I think). Got to see Dice-K get his 8th win and the Drew and Lowell grand slammers...it was great! Traffic coming out of Boston was the worst I've ever seen it. All the way up route 1 was bumper to bumper...it took us an extra hour and a half at least to get back to Maine. Uggg!

Went to the Seadogs game today
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 8 months ago on |
Weird how in years past, watching the Seadogs, I never was that in tune with the future stars of Fenway. Seeing all the jerseys of the guys who have made it to the big league (from both the Marlins and the Sox) is amazing. Every time I go to Hadlock, I love the small stadium atmosphere. There were about 6900 there today, with school vacation week, there were a lot of kids and parents there.
I need to do a better job scouting the team to determine who the real...

My view of Roger "The Roid Rage" Clemens
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 10 months ago on |
I listened to most of this on the plane today...Here's my view:
1) Roger is much more comfortable in the public eye. I could see why Brian would have slumped a bit as the day progressed. (I caught the end of it on TV at home.)
2) Roger is a freaking liar. His wife used HGH, but he never did? I think he never called a doctor to her reaction as he was fearful that questions would be raised and it would be a big news story that his...

Watching 2004 recap

Watched the NESN 2007 season recap last night, watching the 2004 season recap tonight...if that doesn't get you jacked up for Spring Training, I'm not sure what does. Whoooo!

Andy "Oh ya, I was a cheater" Pettitte
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
What the heck...at least he has the balls to "man up" and admit it. I'm guessing a bunch of guys (probably even Red Sox players) have used HGH to recover from an injury. Looks like Roger needs to take some advice from Andy and come clean...

Mitchell Report
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
Ok, so I was a little shocked not to see any current Sox names...Here's my take:
- Bonds - Still no hard evidence. Ya, I think he did it, but prove it.
- Brendan Donnelly - Makes sense, to some degree of his possible injury, funny how the Sox dumped him yesterday, right before the report comes out.
- Gagne - Clearly he was at his best when he was juiced up. $10 million a year for that guy, what a joke! At least he got his ring...

Shill and Lowell signed up...where's Coco going to go? Not much trade talk currently. Owners meetings heat up soon. What would you give up for Santana? I think I would give up Buck, Taco Bellsbury and Lester.

One more to go...

Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but I find it easier to switch the channel when the Sox are pitching and then flip back when I think the've got out of the inning...weird, I know. I'd rather watch them hit, then be hit. Lester has been very good tonight, glad to see we'll have that next year.
Don't want to get too ahead of myself, but things are looking good so far tonight. Weird to think as a Sox fan, we are starting to simply expect good things...

Dice-K did just enough, looked pretty good. Tight game, but then the doors busted open. Pap is funny dancing on the field! Youk needs a little work though.

OK Dice-K, time to step up

Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
Let's go...I know you are still a "rookie" in the MLB, but time to show them what you've got. Trust in Tek, throw your nasty stuff and let's get into the Show! Keep Beckett on the shelf tonight so he can win game 1 of the WS. Wake, if you have to come in to the game, dance that knuckle ball all over the place!

Well, the Celtics look pretty good

I hope they can pull off three in a row and four more wins after that against the Rockies, but the Celtics are looking pretty good. Too bad the B's will still be pretty bad...

Yup, I have to admit, I fell asleep before Gagne had his meltdown. Feel torn with Trot hitting the go ahead run...Well, it's only one game...Three more wins and then four more and we're champs.

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (breath in) AAAAAAAAAAAHHH!
WTF! Worse than the Bucky F'ing Dent year. I can't take it. Yankees are on a steam roller winning streak, the Sox pitching is sucking ass, Man-Ram is a wussy (get in the game you overpaid freak) and Gagne' with a spoon is just not working out. I'm too stressed...

Blown lead in the 8th, bats die when the Yankee's 47 year old closer comes in...uggg! No lead is safe against the Yankees. 20-1 going into the 8th might not be enough. On paper, the Sox had no right to win that game. Bobby Keltey? Look at the Yankee's lineup...where's the weakness?
NY Yankees...

Dice-K, where are the "K"'s?
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
Uh, he had a meltdown...what the hell. He's beat. I'd probably sit him the next two weeks and get him back to form. Although, it's now back to 5 games. Pucker level is getting closer. Yankees need to lose a couple games to take the pressure off. Where's Man-Ram? Taking the weekend off, that's nice...not!

Resign Lowell - I think so
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
So, unless you think A-Rod is a lock to come to Boston (Bor-ass is his agent and he's done well with the Sox in the last year or so) I figure Lowell could probably get $12-$15 million a year in 2008? It's estimated that he's making $9 million this year. One issue is he is 33 and this might be his peak year, which just happens to be a contract year.
So, I look at it like this, $15 million for Lowell vs $30 million a year for A-Rod...A-Rod would hit twice as many homers for twice the...

Did I mention I hate the Yankees?
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
Freakin' no hitter through 6 or 7? (I lost count in and out of the office.) Well, still 5 games I guess. We're getting a bit nervous in Red Sox Nation. Could have been 11, now it's 5...that sucks.

God, I hate the Yankees
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
Freaking Yankees...even with them being 7 games back, they are loaded with talent. When the team batting average is .319, WTF! They are the best team money can buy.
With the Sox second in payroll, they are still what, $50-$60 million behind them? This is going to be a stressful September.
Also, Man-Ram is out with an oblique strain. Freaking Benedict Damon wins the game last night...uggg!
But, being a Sox fan, I must fret, it's just my nature.

As we head into Tuesday vs. the Yankees
|
|
Cravenfan wrote this 1 year ago on |
I hope the Tigers pull out the win so the Sox will be 8 games up on the Evil Empire. Big match up and one where the Sox could play "spoiler" to the Yankees Wild Card efforts and of course, the lead in the East. Go Sox!

Good ol' Julian Tavarez

He said in an interview that all he needed was an hour's notice to start...that's great! He pitched a hell of a game today. Still a bit worried about the Yankees series, but it's looking better with a 7 (soon to be 8) game lead...
