Ted Williams
May 7, 2008

I am new to this site and have spent some time looking around. What I have found interesting is how some people build their Red Sox Dream Team. For me, it is interesting to see the team Red Sox fans put together.

One thing I can not understand is how anyone can leave Ted Williams off their team!

Teddy Ballgame had a lifetime batting average of .344, with 521 home runs and 1839 RBI. He is two time American League MVP, led league in batting 6 times and won the triple crown twice. To add to this, he is still the last player to hit over .400(.406) in a season and holds the highest career batting average of anyone with 500 or more home runs.

Do not forgot too that his playing career was interrupted twice by service in the military!

Manny, Big Papi, Youk are all awesome but Ted Williams is a Red Sox legend and lifer!!

Well, I agree with you on this one. Since the season is in full swing, some people choose to have the current line-up. Some people only choose players they have watched play during their lifetime. Then there are those like myself who build a dream team based off of all-time favorites. Just watch this site after the season ends. Slugfests get active and some great arguments form around dream teams. I hope you enjoy this site. It's a lot of fun and welcome. ...View More

BoSox Ho..
You're so right! Unfortunatly, because I wasn't glued to the games while he was playing, the 'here and now' seems like a better choice for me. (Except Fisk - now he was just wayyy funny!) I can read stats or I can remember events, as they happen, because I'm there when they happen. I chose the memories.. But Ted was great..wish I was there.

That is what is great about baseball, you can look at the numbers and know how great the player is! Just take the fact it has been since 1941 since someone has hit over .400 for a season, that proves his greatest!

maybe all our dreamteams should be the same.

Yes, Williams numbers make him the best. Agreed, but hence the term "dream team"...if all our teams were the same, how fun would that be? It doesnt say "BEST TEAM EVER ASSEBLED"..it says "DREAMTEAM"....dont be a MASSHOLE!

Oh yeah , you really proved a point...Williams is the best hitter evah!..I dont think too many of us will argue, but if Teddy ballgame was all of our choices for LF then the adm of this site shouldnt allow us to choose..JUST MAKE ALL OF OUR DREAMTEAMS HAVE #9 IN LF AND #8 AT FIRST AND THEN WE ONLY GET TO PICK THE OTHER 7!!! LIGHTEN UP!!!

Public Enemy #1~JESTERâ„¢ chill out!Did I once say that all the team should be the same! There are just some players that can not be left off teams to call them a dream team! Would a Yankee leave Babe Ruth off their team? Also no need to be calling me names, chill out, my blog was written with respect and I did not disrespect anyone like you. Please never email or reply to me again.

I am a huge fan of Sox history. With that said, my dream team is players I have witnessed first hand and think would be great together. Hell Ive got Jody Reed on my squad. The man used to make me smile on the field.

I didnt call you any names. Nor did I disrespect you. You really do need to lighten up. You were imposing your Williams requirements on everyone else. Read it again, fancypants, i called you no names nor tendered any disrespect. I just was saying "Yea, Thanks for pointing out the obvious..Williams was great."...Yes, sir, you must be a true diehard to know that...woooo weeee....but seriously, thats why everyone gets to choose their own Dream Team...again, lighten up..>>>WORRY ABOUT YER OWN DREAM TEAM!!! ...View More
