1912: Shortstop Art Fletcher’s error was a costly one as it led to three unearned runs for the Red Sox; Fletcher committed another error when he failed to tag Harry Hooper on an attempt to steal lead to a four run fifth. The game is canceled after the 11th inning on an account of darkness; the score is 6-6.
1915: President Thomas Woodrow Wilson becomes the first sitting President to attend a World Series game. Wilson witness Rube Foster limits the Phillies to only three hits en route to a 2-1 victory in game 2. The series is tied 1-1.
1916: Babe Ruth out dueled Sherry Smith to beat the Brooklyn Dodgers 2-1 in the 14 innings. The Sox lead the Fall Classic 2-0.
1946: The Series Returns to Fenway as Dave Ferriss shuts out the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0.
1967: In a must win game Dick Williams would trust in Jim Lonborg, and his faith would be rewarded as Boston wins 2-1. The only run for the Red Bird was off the bat of future Hall of Famer Roger Maris.
1988: Boston is swept out of the playoff, in a 4-1 loss to Oakland. Jose Canseco set a playoff record with his third homer of the series, Dennis Eckersley also sets a playoff record with his fourth save of the playoffs.
1990: The Oakland A’s moved one game closer to the Series sweep as the beat the Red Sox by a score of 4-1.
1999: As the Series moves the Boston the momentum moves to the Red Sox. The Red Sox push 9 runs across the plate powered by the Homers of John Valentin and Brain Daubach. Cleveland leads the series 2-1.
2003: Behind the stellar pitching of Andy Pettitte New York beats Boston 6-2 in Yankees Stadium. The Series is tide 1-1.
