1951: After acquiring C Gus Niarhos from the White Sox yesterday the Browns (Orioles) send him to the Red Sox along with OF Ken Wood to the Red Sox for C Les Moss and OF Tom Wright.
1958: The Red Sox sign future Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski. The 19 year old receives a reported $100,000 signing bonus.
1965: Haywood Sullivan resigns as Athletics Manager to become director of player personnel and Vice President of the club for the Boston Red Sox. He would later go on to own the Red Sox.
1988: When Rich Gedman signs with the Bo Sox he becomes the highest paid catcher in the American League. It is a one year deal worth $1.2 million; the Boston backstop will hit .212 the next season.
