1926: After leading the Red Sox to the American League Pennants in 1915 and 1916, Bill Carrigan is called out of retirement to try to bring the Boston out of the cellar.
1965: The Red Sox trade Eddie Bressoud to the Mets for outfielder Joe Christopher.
1967: After giving up on Ray Culp the Cubbies ship him off to Boston (Whoa oh oh) for Minor Leaguer Rudy Schlesinger and cash. The deal turns out to be a steal for the Sox as Culp will develop a palm ball and win 64 games for Boston over the next four seasons.
1992: Boston signs free agent infielder Scott Fletcher.
