With Christmas approaching lets take a moment to think about others and give to a charity.  Here is a list of those that are close to me and my heart please post some of your own.

Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has supported the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, helping to raise the chances of survival for cancer patients around the world.

On October 21, 2004 Victoria "Torie" Snelgrove attended a Red Sox celebration in Boston and was tragically killed. In her memory the Snelgrove family has set up a memorial fund.  Torie's dream was to pursue a career in broadcast journalism.  It is the goal of the Victoria Snelgrove Memorial Fund to award scholarships benefiting East Bridgewater High School, Massachusetts and Emerson College of Boston, students who have the same dream.  In addition the Victoria Snelgrove Memorial Fund hopes to benefit the lives of others.

FAAN’s membership now stands at close to 30,000 worldwide and includes families, dietitians, nurses, physicians, school staff, and representatives from government agencies and the food and pharmaceutical industries. FAAN serves as the communication link between the patient and others.

Developing marketable job skills among homeless and low-income individuals in transitional programs is the first step in enabling them to secure a meaningful job that provides a living wage and starts them on the path of self-sufficiency.
 
 The acquisition, production and distribution of healthy food to the “working poor” helps to prevent homelessness by saving them money at the grocery store which can be applied to rent and utilities and keeps them on the path to self-sufficiency.
Mission: The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver is to inspire and enable young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

Thanx for posting this info. I put money in Salvation Army kettles and donate to the Toys for Tots locally but these are all great charities. One thing we should all remember about the Holiday season is that it's about what ya give, not what ya get and there are people that have things a lot worse than we do.

www.bmm.org stans for Baptist Mid-Missions and they are missionaries that build churches in the states, while donating 100% of their labor. They are currently doing OUR church! The core group will stay in travel trailers thru the winter and finish up sometimes next spring. It is VERY exciting! I'll try to upload somepics so you can see. GREAT post!!!

whopps! I have Baptist Mid-missions on the brain..that's the mission field that our latest missionary is being sent from. THe builder mission is www.cbmoffice.org and they are BOTH worthy, in my book.
