Thought for Today: Pitching Futures
The Red Sox pitching future certaily looks bright.
Who'd have thought that you could pull Curt Schilling out of The Sox rotation and not miss him? But here we are-- the first week of June, a half game out of first place and no one is batting an eyelash.
The other thing I would like to point out is that this kid, Justin Masterson, has barely been on the radar. No hoopla like we heard about Lester and Bucholtz. Yet this kid gets yoyo-ed back and forth from Portland to Boston and just stays consistant! The Sox have won all three games he has started and no one is saying a word about what a nervewracking accomplishment that is.
Now, let's look southwest to Yankee Stadium. All the hoopla and hype that has surrounded everything Joba Chamberlain has done since his arrival in the majors-- and frankly, I'd put Masterson up against Chamberlain any day of the week.... and our boy Masterson would walk with the W.
Are you watching, Hank? As Grampa used to say: Put that in your pipe and smoke it!!
