Tonight I climb on a flight and head out to Spain for a week.I will miss the Baltimore and Texas series' and when I get home the Red Sox will be into Game 2 against the Rays at Fenway and will have just 17 games left in the regular season.Here's a prayer for the post-season!

I've been fortunate to leave these shores for the occasional trip to far-flung lands. A couple of those trips have taken me to the United States so I am aware that America's pastime gets dissected on radio, TV and in the papers on a daily basis. Living in the UK means having to pay a certain price to stay loyal to the Red Sox.Firstly, UK TV coverage of MLB is very limited. One station screens two games each week (one Sunday, one Wednesday) so we're at the mercy of whatever ESPN or FOX are covering on the day. Things do improve with the World Series, with every game being aired live (happy memories of 2004!).So there is a financial cost involved for the loyal Sox fan in the UK because you have to put your hand...
