I miss baseball ... badly
February 17, 2009

I would have to say that 2008 was the beginning of my love affair with baseball.  I lived in Boston for 4 years and now live in Yankee territory where being a Sox fan is practically a sin.  I wear my BoSox gear with much pride.

I love being a Sox fan and have become a real lover of baseball as I learn more about the game from research and my partner who really loves and knows the game.  It's been a part of her life forever.  Me, football.  But now .... baseball way more.

I love it .... and love it bad.  I can't wait for the season to start.  I will miss Coco Crisp though.  That trade really bummed me out. :(

KY would be one of the "contentious" individuals I referred to in my post. A fan is a fan. At some point we all discovered the Red Sox. Perhaps it was when they were down or when they won the World Series. She is here and is a welcome addition to the site as a fan. Enough with the negative crap.

GLAD to have you! I have also turned my husband from a football fan into more of a baseball fan. Welcome aboard and don't mind the negativity. When it comes right down to it, we're all pretty cool on here.

Note the ? mark after my comment. It was a question I am giving the benefit of the doubt I asked a question at least when I took english that is what that funny crooked symbol is used for. How can someone live in Boston for 4 years and not be a sox fan move to Yankee territory and become a Sox Fan? But welcome to Red Sox Nation you will soon learn what you have missed all those years. ...View More

I did notice the ? mark, and appreciate the course on punctuation. I also did notice the "red arrow" downvote which you gave her that usually means disapproval of the posting. Flipity-flopity. A-Rod needs a PR guy. Available?

Thanks all for the support. I couldn't even tell you what a bandwagon fan is ... but I love the Sox. I have collected quite a bit of great memorabilia too -- I bought a couple of the seats they pulled out of Fenway to replace ... now I feel like I have a special piece of the Sox with me. :)

oh, and I deleted that bandwagon comment (not realizing there were so many comments underneath it). This is supposed to be fun--no negative. Thanks everyone!

A bandwagon fan is generally considered to be someone who is a fan only because the team won the world series, or has recently had success. many red Sox fans here have endured many years of heart ache following the Red Sox, through the ups and downs. A good example of a bandwagon fan would be most of Tampa bays fans, the majority of them came out towards the edn with their new Rays hats and shirts only when the team started to succeed. They did not show their support over the last ten years that they stunk. One of the Web definitions say- a popular trend that attracts growing support; "when they saw how things were going everybody jumped on the bandwagon". ...View More
