As the Red Sox keep shootin' double after double down the lines and into the gaps, the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels, and the Yankees must be wonderin' whether they'd be flattenin' the Rockies, too. There's a new monster in baseball, and it's in Boston! Boston is a major league bully these days, playin' in rarefied air before crowds who demand to win.
Overwelmin' in every way, the Red Sox swept to their 2nd title in 4 years Sunday night. Jon Lester, Mike Lowell & Co. left little room fof drama with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies in Game 4. No NL team could have blocked Boston this October.
At this rate, New England fans might get spoiled.
Manager Terry Francona's team has become a perfect counterpart to coach Bill Belichick's bruisers on the Patriots.
After rallyin' from a 3-1 deficit against Cleveland in the AL championship series, the Red Sox won 7 straight games & won their 7th World Series crown. Their 2nd in 4 years.
Lester pitched a shutout into the 6th, & Jonathan Papelbon closed with his 3rd save of the series.
