SOX BATS ARE MIGHTY
May 9, 2008
We took 3 out of 4 games against Detroit last night after a 5-1 victory over the Tigers. Our pitchers this series have all managed to get out of some pretty shaky situations. When Detroits' runners would get in scoring position, key pitches were thrown to get the outs needed to close out the side. Country put on a great show last night pitching for his 1,000th career strikeout. He went on to strike out one more to make the count 1,001 career strikeouts. 72 pitches out of 102 fell for strikes last night. That definately qualifies for one of his most dominate nights. Our on-the-road record moves to 9-9 and we still hold the best at-home record in the majors.
Youk has been impressive so far. In his last 6 games, he's hit for a .425 BA, 5 homers, 12 RBI's and 4 doubles. He's in the top five in the American League with home runs, RBI's and BA. He's performing phenominally so far this season and look forward to whatever is to come for any of our Sox players.
Taking 3 out of 4 from Detroit should hopefully make us all forget about Lugo's bobble the other night. So much is happening right now that is much bigger than his one error. Beckett's milestone, Manny's approach of a milestone, Youk hitting impressively. There's just too much positive to focus on than there are negatives. We're moving on to play the Twins tonight and Lester is on the mound. With our bats working in our favor as of late, we shouldn't have any problem giving Lester the support he needs to get the job done. Our Sox are looking great and we're still sitting nicely at the top where we belong.
LET'S GO RED SOX!
