Pack it up and ship 'em out: The NYYs are spent
SawxFawx found this 2 months ago on sports.yahoo.com
This news bulletin has been resonating for a while: The New York Yankees are cooked. Fineto. Dunzo. But I never cease to enjoy the news columns that solidify their position as one of 2008's biggest disappointments.

The tides are rolling into September, and unfamiliar faces are emerging victorious. As surprising as the 08 Devil Rays have been this year, it is equally surprising that the RIP tide of Brian Cashman's dream team Yanks are on the outs, and it could not be more eminent.

Jeff Passan of yahoosports.com sardonically promotes the NYY 2008 campaign as nothing more than a "cornucopia of meltdowns, implosions and snafus, each another layer of frustration in what was supposed to be a sweet season that turned into one of those exploding cakes."

Very poetic - the SawxFawx is very impressed.

My favorite line in the story is when Brian Cashman speaks about how the management gave away 'freebie lunchboxes' to the pinstripe faithful - noting that "we’ve had a lot of giveaways this year." Nice one - words certainly have two meanings there.

Amongst other Major League downgrades, the Philadelphia Phillies are top bulletin for a massive NL East catastrophie, even though they are only 1.5 games behind the lowly New York Mets. Their three top guns in Howard, Utley, and Rollins, according to the article, have been "13 for 80 with two home runs, 10 RBIs and six walks against 24 strikeouts" in the past week. Going into the home stretch, such dodgy hitting cannot bode well for a team that is in dire need of a championship push. But what else is new for Phillies fans?

Ahhhhhhhh, music to my eyes. 220 + million bucks just doesn't buy ya what it used to. I'm not gonna count the Yankees completely out yet as they can still lose 11 games the rest of the season and get 92 wins. But I am savoring every Yankee defeat.

Yeah everyone is saying they are done for now. And watch Hank try and overshadow the post season with his crazy comments on how he's going to change the Yankees for next year. I get YES here and the for Yankee show yesterday they had on a golfer and not any of their players. That prettys much says where that team is right now and I love it! Can you imagine if the Rays can keep thier success up for seasons to come? Yankees might not make the playoffs for a while unless they can do something major to change that team. It truely is a great time in history to be a Sox fan! ...View More
