Hi, My name is Wayne Cantin - Model ship Craftsman. I grew up in Southampton, Massachusetts before moving to Boiling Springs, SC over 20 years ago. I worked at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal until I retired September, 2006.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. I have been a sox fan all of my life. My family also. My mother (Barbara) had season tickets on the third base line in Fenway in the 70’s. Pouring down rain in Southampton - 100 miles from Boston - she would, sometimes herself start driving to Fenway. Many times on the way she would find out that the games was rained out and return home. She kept score for every game, while at the game or while in Boston. In 86 my brother Al asked mom if she cried when Boston lost. She admitted that she did, but on her porch where she listened to the games. Towards the end mom could not keep up with the games because of Alzheimer's. She did keep her sense of humor till the end. Dad would exclaim “Oh S---!!!” Mom from her rocker in the living room would simply reply “Down the hall, first door on the left”. She loved people and would all ways strike up a conversation with a total stranger. Sadly she passed away in May of 2004 at 91. My brother, sister, wife myself and niece Lisa insist that she had something to do with the World Series Championship in 2004. We are convinced of it. Dad at 92 is still on the go living by himself in Southampton. He visits the cemetery every chance he gets and missed mom so very, very much. I have been building wooden historical model ships for almost 20 years now. Now that I am retired I spend a lot more time building models. Of course, I have many more “Honey Do” to do. The nice part of retirement is that I get to see all the games. I use to get our of work at the newspaper at 9pm and rush home to see “part” of the game.............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. I have built some 75 models over the years for clients in the US and Canada. I also take commissions, do repairs, restorations and cleaning.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
