Today in Sox History:
On this date in 1978, the Red Sos acquired a catcher named Fred Kendall and a young future HOF pitcher named Dennis Eckersley from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for aging Pitcher Rick Wise and Catcher Bo Diaz. Eck would go one to win 20 games in 1978 to lead the team in just about every pitching category and finished 4th in the Cy Young Award voting. Even though the Sox would lose the tie-braking game to the spankee's For me the summer of 78' was an incredible because of the feats of Dennis Eckersley.......So on this the 30th anniversay of his acquisition lets remember the good parts of that heartbraking season and where would the team have been without THE ECK!!! Way to be 43!!!!
