BLUE JAY WAY !!!!
The words Lester had a good night were an understatement last night, Sterling was more like it. That’s right John Lester was sterling last night vs. the Jays . He one hit the birds over Eight complete . That’s right 1 hit 0 runs 0 earned runs 6 ks the only blemish were 4 walks, and on this night they didn’t cost him, as he out dueled Toronto ace Roy Halladay . Halladay who was nothing short of outstanding himself , allowed just one run to become the hard luck loser once again. Halladay allowed five hits one earned run with just one walk in 8.2 innings , the term pithers duel comes to mind . This game was up for grabs til the bottom of the ninth when Kevin (clutch ) Youkilis2-4, with the games only rbi, his fifteenth of the year, ended it with a walk off hit in the last of the ninth , Youks hit scored David Ortiz who got on with a bb, Third-base coach DeMarlo Hale energetically waved the 230-pound designated hitter on , and Ortiz scored easily when Vernen Wells picked up and then dropped Youks ninth-inning single to center field. Ortiz was then mobbed by his teammates. Toronto’s Roy Halladay stalked off the mound, a 1-0 loser as the Red Sox ended a five-game losing streak. It was Halladay’s fourth complete game., but he has lost the last three. This ended Hallidays night , and made Papelbon the winner , Paps came into a 1-1 game in the top of the ninth and shut down the Jays to set the stage for Youks dramatics. So load up the gun and continue the fun tonight as we attempt to bag our limit of birds . Jay hunting season has begun at Fenway ..
And I am glad the boys are home
