This isn't really Red Sox  related, but since I have seen so many veterans and active duty servicemen on this site I wanted to pass on this info.

For non military people, It's a great cause to support... For anyone who ever served in our armed forces, it's a great opportunity and will put you three and a half hours from Fenway Park on a FREE VACATION as a means of thanking you for your service to our country.

Check it out!

Join Operation Recognition™ in giving back to U.S. military personnel
and their families.

Now accepting applications for the 2009 Season!  We will be selecting 40 familes this year to participate. Download the application and return it by April 15.

Operation Recognition is a non-profit, non-partisan group, founded to deliver a long-overdue Thank-you! to our servicemen and women. They risk their lives for our protection and well-being and we believe they deserve a meaningful gesture of appreciation: a week of R&R in Maine. We’re here to make it the best possible experience these soldiers and their families could ever imagine.

All Service and No Play…
From World War II veterans to the men and women in active service today, all military personnel are eligible to participate in Operation Recognition. As our fledgling organization grows, we hope to be able to reach out to as many families as possible.

At this time, Operation Recognition will be hosting families at the Sheepscot Harbour Village & Resort in Edgecomb, Maine. We are currently raising funds to acquire a Maine property that will accommodate multiple families on retreat, as well as support our ongoing efforts with hosting families.

If  you would like more information on how to help us, please contact us at 207-582-0854   or visit www.operationrecognition.com

Great stuff, thanks for sharing! Always room for a blog supporting our troops-past and present. If interested, I support another great charity for our servicemen and women. www.homesforourtroops.org They build special houses to fit the needs of our disabled heroes who paid so dearly for us. Please take a peek.

(: Thank's, Joe! I'll definitely check out the other site, too. I should say, I am not involved with this group, other than I am sending a donation. I heard a radio interview this morning with one of their founders. I thought of Christian and his family when I heard about it, so I posted him a comment with the site address; but there are alot of others who would qualify.

You are DEFINITELY right, but I especially hate DRs on blogs supporting our troops. They are there helping us all-even the trolls!

Thank you for posting this. It doesn't matter if it's not Sox related and what not, human conditions transcend baseball ones.
