I mailed this to Yaz at Mass General Hospital from all my friends at Sawxheads. I did not post this for points, but would like responses. I hope you enjoy:
The Captain and Heart of our team.
The one who lead us through an Impossible Dream.
Line drives from Foul Pole to Foul Pole.
He was always in control.
He lead by example with toughness and grit.
Yaz out smarted opponents with his wit.
His work ethic was legend, and extended his prime.
And helped him become one of the greatest of all time.
The Great Number 8 guarded our Wall.
And without him there, it's not nearly as tall.
He mastered it caroms and its quirks.
He practiced and practiced, anything that works.
During the hard times we looked for him.
For a great catch or a run-batted-in.
His current battle is bigger then the game.
So we need to step-up and do the same.
Yaz, all of Red Sox Nation prays for you.
And we hope that you pull through.
We send our prayers to God above.
And send to you, our unwavering love.
