no hitter

I'm not even sure how to put last night into perspective. When Bucholz had his no hitter last fall it was fun and exciting. With Lester it was gut-wrenching. All through the ninth inning I was afraid of having a heart attack. I tried to imagine what was going through the minds of the batters that we faced. Would they really want to ruin such a historic moment to bolster their own stats? Was it fair to ask that of them? And then the last strike out came. Watching Lester embrace Francona I...

last night while watching the celtics game i was debating with a sox fan to remain nameless. i said that i was still traumatized from game seven of the 2003 alcs (i know i hate to even bring it up) and he replied that we won it the next year so it was all okay. i told him that he wasn't a real fan at that point and couldn't possibly convince me otherwise. i, for one, spent a few hours getting over the shock and drinking heavily (straight vodka), then cried myself to sleep. so i'm right,...

what does it say about the "most valuable player" when he becomes a free agent and no one goes after him? even the yankees didn't jump through their usual hoops. personally i feel that the best thing for both the yankees and arod would have been to part ways. then the yankees would have been forced to rely more on homegrown talent and everyday players and not divas like arod. also he isn't helping the yankees or himself by focusing on individual stats and failing when it counts....

As you may or may not have guessed from my profile, I'm not exactly your average Fenway Frank eating fan. I say this not to condemn anyone who eats whatever it is those things are made of (topic for another time), but rather to be open about a personal lifestyle choice. I am a vegan, and if you find that freaky, you may be right (just a little vegan humor). I find that most people I encounter are curious about veganism so to clarify I don't consume any meat, seafood, milk, eggs, or honey, nor...

All my life, all I wanted was to root for the sox, at home in front of the tv, at fenway, smashed at some bar somewhere, in a playoff game, against the yankees, or even just preseason. It didn't matter. I just wanted to root for them, to know that they would be there and that I could in some way be a part of it. Disappointing seasons in the past left me hungry for more baseball, just a few more games to get my fix. And then there was '04. An event that changed my life forever. If the Red Sox...
