can i get some opinions

last night while watching the celtics game i was debating with a sox fan to remain nameless. i said that i was still traumatized from game seven of the 2003 alcs (i know i hate to even bring it up) and he replied that we won it the next year so it was all okay. i told him that he wasn't a real fan at that point and couldn't possibly convince me otherwise. i, for one, spent a few hours getting over the shock and drinking heavily (straight vodka), then cried myself to sleep. so i'm right, right? anyone with that kind of attitude has no idea what it feels like to be a real fan (initiation by heartbreak).

	I guess some of us have different degrees of emotional attachment. I'll never forget 1986, yeah I cried. I can understand how someone cannot forget 2003 if it was the first time they had their heart ripped out of their chest. 2003 just made 2004 that much sweeter. The fact that we were able to beat the Yankees the next year, and in such dramatic fashion, did take away the pain of 2003...at least for me. Doesn't mean it didn't hurt at the time, but now I laugh when I think of Aaron Boone--which actually doesn't happen that often. 	I agree with Believe - there's no ONE way to define a how a fan should feel or act. Fandom is personal to each person. I am happy to be a Sox fan, and happy to have so many wonderful friends to enjoy this fandom with! 04/21/2008 5:31 PM

	5-2 lead with five outs to go to get to the World Series. Blah blah blah blah blah, Timmy Wakefield (the ALCS MVP had we won) ends up being the Game 7 losing pitcher. That's not a laughing matter, nope not then, not now, not ever. 04/21/2008 8:44 PM
