I admit I was a little skeptical when I saw that Moss was playing in the opener due to Drew having a stiff back.  Drew has been doing pretty well in training, and I wasn't sure Moss would be up to the challenge, but he definitely surprised me and made me eat my words, at least so far.  The game isn't over yet, but he had a double to bring Manny in in the 6th, and just hit a home run in the ninth.  Way to go Moss, looking forward to seeing you play some more this year.

Its really too bad about Schill and his shoulder.  I was hoping he would have one more good year, I know he was planning to call it good after this year or soon after.  Hopefully he will get patched up and be able to come in towards the end.  He's been a good guy to have on the team-and you know no one will ever forget the bloody sock.  So now our Sox are likely looking for someone to fill out the rotation.  I mean, we have plenty of pitching talent, but we have...

Lester worried?

Who do you guys think will be the fifth pitcher? Jon or Clay?  I saw an article today that Lester has reported for training early (ten days ahead of schedule).  Is he just dedicated (not saying that he isn't), or does he want to get some extra work in before everyone else shows up?  No matter what happens, our rotation will be stacked with plenty of bench behind it.

I don't care much for football, but I am glad the Superbowl is finally here and over so we can start hearing about baseball more.  I am looking forward to this season, with the infield intact it will be great to see where the boys can go with it.  Casey was an excellent acquisition-not only is he a capable player, Youk and Lowell can now take a night off and we won't panic.  It will be interesting to hear news from the other teams though and check out the competition, now that...

I know there are still options and that some movements will be made, but it is good to see that our Red Sox seem to have remained mostly intact and will be ready to go in the spring.  I can't wait to see Schilling and Lowell show that age is just a number and watch our young guys show off the Sox' future.  They've made it most of the way through the trade season with limited drama and managed to keep the Yankees away.  I am curious to see what happens with Crisp-it could go...

I just read that the Sox are willing to trade Ellsbury...I hope nothing happens.  He is not only one of my favorite players, but he performed so well for the Sox this year and has so much promise.  Santana would be  a great addition to the team, but not at this cost.I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Its still technically a rumor, but I just read that Ellsbury and Buchholz are not likely to be in the deal for Santana, if one does come about.  I still think Santata might not be worth the money, but I am glad to hear that two of our best young'ns won't be in the deal.  They're now speculating that Coco will be in the deal if it should happen, which won't bother me a bit... but losing Lester would be a bit of a disappointment.  Glad to hear that Papi's surgery went well...

Lowell's Staying

I'm glad Lowell is staying and A Rod seems to be close to signing back with the Yankees.  A lot of people were getting nervous, and some seemed to be getting discouraged/upset with Lowell's hesitation, but I am glad that I kept the faith.  I think he had every right to look for a fourth year, he's not THAT old yet.  I think the Sox will probably offer it to him in the future if he continues to produce like he has been.  I am really looking forward to spring training...I...

Congratulations to Dustin Pedroia on being named the AL Rookie of the Year-even though we knew all along that he would be.  He deserves it, especially with the latest news regarding his hand.  Can't wait to watch him get even better next year.  Now I am just crossing my fingers that Lowell will accept his contract tonight.

Lowell's Offer

I was glad to read this morning that the Sox managerial staff has made Lowell an offer.  Doesn't sound too bad either 12-14 M$ for a three year deal.  I know Lowell was looking for something more along the line of four years, but I think he will take it.  He is one of those players who really belongs with the team.  If Varitek wasn't on the team as our el capitan, I think Lowell would be the guy for the job.  Who knows, if he produces, they might offer him that fourth...

Very happy to hear that Youk got his Gold Glove.  I knew all along that he would get one.  YOUUUUUUKKKKK getting ready to do a speech on Jacoby Ellsbury for my Public Communications class next week.  Finally, I can do a speech about something I am interested in and acutally know about.  Now if I can just get the rest of the class interested in baseball at 8 AM....The slideshow I made to go with it is very sexy I might add.  Glad to hear...

I hate this time of year.  Everything is in limbo.  Fans are hearing a whirlwind of rumors, wondering who's staying, who's going.  It seems like I have been keeping my fingers crossed constantly.  One second I am relieved, hearing that we are keeping someone or getting rid of someone we don't need (cough, Gagne, cough, cough), but then the Red Sox big bosses will break my heart by trading away someone I love or turning down a deserving team member's contract. ...

They did it again.  Though I am very happy and glad that I can go to bed at a reasonable hour now, I am sad to see the season end.  What am I going to do all winter?  I am petrified about certain contracts (LOWELL!!!) that are up and what the management plans to do about it.  I just hope they don't even consider picking up A-Rod.  I can tell you right now I wouldn't cheer for him.  Sure, he's an excellent ballplayer, but he doesn't belong on the Sox-he's too...
