Great article !!! There is no way anyone can read this and say that they did not act exactly the way Bill Simmons describes it...we all did it when Manny came to the Red Sox.His article has it down to the nth degree...real good stuff.It will be very,very interesting around these parts IF the Red Sox do not repeat as WS Champions to see how the fans react... 10/02/2008 1:13 PM |

Yeah, I think Boras had a huge influence on things, don't think Simmons is breaking any new ground there, but overall I can't say I agree with the gist of the article. Especially the line "You can't blame Manny just like you can't blame Lindsay Lohan for having awful parents or any Duke basketball player for turning into a whimpering crybaby." Actually, yes, I can blame Manny. Why? Because he's a 36 year old man, not a small boy, and 36 year old men (even fruit-loops like Manny) need to take responsibility for their actions sooner or later. Everything he's done in LA since the trade has served as a painful confirmation of A) what his true potential for athletic greatness has always been, and B) just how much he'd been tanking it with the Sox.
