About Me

Born and raised in a yankee universe, I have been immersed (pre-2004: cursed) since birth in Red Sox lore. My Grandparents met in Boston and I heard the stories many times about my Grandfather sneaking out of the hospital after my aunt was born to watch the first pitch at Fenway. However, as has so often been the case, Boston was robbed of young talent when they moved to Sayreville, New Jersey. (And just like in the No-No Nannette trade, Boston got nothing) Through the move we've remained loyal to beantown, from going to Trenton Thunder games watching Trot and Nomar flourish, to taking credit for Vaughn's MVP season in 1995 because we named our dog, Mo, that June. Then, in the summer of 2004, without consulting the neighbors, we painted the back fence "monster green," and later added some retired numbers, including late-great Sayreville-native Buddy Popowski's number 32 (Pop was proudly laid to wake in Sayreville wearing his Boston Uniform). His daughter, Carole Garbowski has been over to see that his efforts coaching third base for the Sox are still appreciated. Through High School I learned to deal with every Yankee fan screaming about Bucky (F.) Dent, Aaron (F.) Boone, the Yankee dynasty, the curse, Grady Little, and who exactly was Pedro's daddy. Of course, like any stubborn red sox fan I never lost the faith and the AL east has a new dominant franchise. Last year at Law School my roommate thought it would be funny to put up a Yankee logo in the living room...the very next day he signed the newly painted Pesky Pole in the kitchen. I've gotten used to finding a half dozen brooms on the porch after the occasional Yankee sweep, but my friends know to expect Boston Crème donuts after the World Series. I'm from NJ and I love the Red Sox.

DIEHARDS..

Hey everyone, I need your help. The Red Sox are having a contest for governors of all the states for Red Sox Nation, and I'm running for Gov. of NJ. I need to recruit people to endorse my candidacy. If you get a chance please go to: http://www.mlb.com/bos/fan_forum/rsn_gov_support_form.jsp And put in my name (Casey Woods) and e-mail ([email protected]). I'm hoping you'll all vote early and often, voting ends August 5th, and you can vote 10 times per e-mail address (After you hit submit, hit the back button on your browser and repeat!). Please send this to anyone who you think would help! So take a minute to help out, it's free and I'd really appreciate it. Go Sox, Casey C. Woods Candidate for New Jersey Governor of Red Sox Nation My name is Casey Woods and I approved this message. ...View More
