The Day the Music Died

This song has always had meaning for me, and my entire generation. I was a teenager when this was released, and I remember sitting on a bench at the school across the street from my house, at night, listening to this for the first time, on my Sony portable radio.

I never moved, never said a word while it played. I just remember being incredibly moved, as it talked about one of my musical heroes, who died before I was born.

The music lives on, and this "tribute" continues to send a message to everyone who listens. So, take a moment, turn off the phone, and take it all in.

Rock and Roll is here to stay!

Guys like Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, and Lester Young, that are some of my musical heroes, passed on years before I was born too but their spirit lives on. This is a great tune and the Don McLean version is much better than the Madonna version.
