Let's go Red Sox
June 4, 2008
There is nothing more amazing than the Red Sox and their fans. We come into a game after a rocky road trip with a lot of negative buzz swirling around. All you hear about is "can the sox stay strong without papi", "how is the pitching rotation going to hold up without dice k", "this is the longest and farthest over 500 the rays have ever been and may stay there" and "how about this young rays pitching staff"
basically a lot of BS and speculation and how do we answer...
Another good outing from our young pitching staff by Masterson and Hansen, while we dispose of Garza in less than six innings hitting two home runs and snagging 5 earned runs from him.
JD Drew and Mike Lowell step in to show our depth, and Coco breaks out of a slump with excellent timing
A fan reps for the Celtics, runs out on the field sporting his jersey with pride, avoids two open field tackles, and breaks his pinky, all in the name of this fine city
We increase our record at Fenway to 22 and 5, seriously 22 and 5...damn
My personal favorite, Johnathan Papelbon messes with the media and tells them he is injured too with this gem...
The injury, he said, was to his elbow. His left elbow.
"The official diagnosis is 'Elton John surgery,' " Papelbon said. "It's all good, man. Just got to ice it. There's no surgery needed for Elton John. It's just kind of nagging, kind of like Elton John songs."
and of couse, last but not least, the Yankees prove they are in a $200+ million rebuilding year when the long awaited and over hyped Joba start falls to pieces.
I love this city, and I love the Red Sox
