Im calling it right now, Tim Wakefield and his 12 or 13 wins this year are going to be the icing on the cake. Last season towards the end of the year and through the playoffs we missed Wake's tumbler! When you have someone that can come in and throw off a lineup the way he does (on MOST occasions) it does wonders for the pitchers that follow him, either that night or the following day. If Wake's shoulder allows him to get 20 starts he will win those 12 or 13 I speak of. Then when its playoff time he has been tits out of the relief role (minus the Boone incident). Last season in that Tampa series those guys were sitting there waiting for fastballs, if Wake was able to come in from the pen and mix them up I think we would have seen a different team dancing down at the Trop!!

I hope you're right about Wakefield. He's the last of the old guys, Schill & Timlin are gone.

I like your thinking but my thinking is he doesn't get enough starts to get 12 or 13 wins.

Little bit of run support and a little bit of health and it's definitely doable. Let's hope for both.

Cali I agree 100% with you. Had Wake been healthy and able to pitch it would of been a totally different game. Wake a great pitcher. Not to many players have got his number you never know what's coming at ya. It would be nice to see him win 15 out of 20. Sh*&t I forgot to take off my rose color glasses before I commented. lol

Nothin I love much more than a healthy Wake! He adds dimension to the team and that cant be said too often. I will go a few better though. I say 14 or 15 w's..healthy all the way. I wouldn't be surprised if he is called upon to do some relief work come end of season....cause that's his style.

Wake is by far my favorite Red Sox player. I'd love to see 15 - 20 wins in 09 & hope he's with us for a few more great years. CLASS!
