LETTER TO SCOTT BORAS
October 29, 2007
Dear Mr. Boras,
I admit that anything causing turmoil to the Yankees and their minions should make me happy. But alas, it doesn't.
I realize that your client, Mr. Rodriguez's decision to opt out of his contract with the Yankees is important news. However leaking out the information so it would be reported in the latter innings of a World Series game left a bit to be desired. I found it to be a bit of an unnecessary distraction.
I know this is hard to understand but when one's team is playing to clinch a world championship, the last thing one wants to be bothered with is news about the Yankees. After all, most of us have forgotten about them since their early departure in the ALDS.
You have a job to do, I'll give you that. And I know this is hard to believe but some of us care about a baseball game being played between the lines. I understand that publicity is important but there will be plenty of time for that between now and around Christmas time when the matter of the A-Rod circus is concluded. (And personally I think Mr. Rodriguez will have a wonderful time in Anaheim.)
In the future, please be considerat of those of us that still care about how a baseball game is played on the field. There is a time and a place for everything. And don't worry, enough people will pay attention to you and your clients when there is not a game on.
Thank you very much for your time and your cooperation, it is greatly appreciated.
Cordially,
Me
