LUGO MUST GO!

C'mon Theo...dont worry about arms...we need a shortstop that can go get a clutch hit once in a while and can field his position. Drive on over to Pawtucket and pick up Jed Lawrie and drop off Lugo. He is bad...he cant hit, he cant field he is our weakest link...please get rid of him...he's bad for my heart and blood pressure.

Actually that last AB was a bullet that surely would have tied the game but it just happened to be hit directly at their shortstop. It's baseball, that sort of thing happens.

you actually think that I would write a blog about one at-bat? Look at the body of work...he has been a defensive liability for a long time and he cant hit...Thanks for the "it's baseball, that sort of thing happens", patronizing comment...in 35 years of watching the Red Sox, I had honestly already considered that philosophy. Baseball is a failure sport, but Lugo is a failed experiment and it is time for someone else to get a chance.

Redd.... I agree 100%. Lugo is a liability. I have tried to be patient in waiting for him to be the player he once was in Tampa but have yet to see any consistancy. I'd like to see Cora get some at bats and time at SS just to ease my frustration. Maybe he's just trying too hard to make things happen? Who knows? Lowrie will be quite a player for us someday, but I think the plan is to bring him into the bigs for short stints while he's developing his game and his confidence. That last out was hit solid & unfortunately into the TB SS's glove. At least he made contact! I'm sure that there will be some decisions made inre: SS and our bullpen. Let's see what happens....

Hold on a minute, my "It's baseball" comment wasn't meant to be patronizing, it's just fact. Here is my perspective. Was I a fan of the Lugo signing, no. But he's one of us, might as well support him, win as a team, lose as a team and all that. As far as failed experiment goes, we did kind of have the best record in baseball last year and we did kind of win the World Series with him. Keep the Faith; 14/09

Hey I like Alex Cora too but remember how well he did back in 2006 when he was playing every day. Role players tend to get their weaknesses exposed when they're put in every day.

Last year it was get rid of Drew, now look at him. This year it is Lugo. The team is what the team is. I have been watching this team my whole life and I can not think of anyone else I would rather watch playing shortstop right now. Right now Lugo is the guy. Love him or hate him, he is OUR guy. I feel that is it very disrespectful to bash players. SHAME ON YOU ALL.

Lugo had alot of hype when we signed him, and I agree that he has not met those expectations. The problem is, I believe Lowerie would be up if he was ready. Management must know something we don't. I would like the team to go get someone but not a high price. Is there a team willing to do that? I don't know!!

No David...last year for ME it was Gagne...I never had an issue with JD because he was dealing with serious personal issues...my issue with JD was with Tito for playing him when his head clearly wasnt in the game for a while. There is blind loyalty ("and I can not think of anyone else I would rather watch playing shortstop right now.")and there is reality. Part of the process of getting better is casting off dead weight and giving someone else a chance...every player in pro sports knows that there is someone waiting behind them. Hey, I loved Mark Bellhorn, but he couldnt hit his weight so he went away. Lugo is an adventure in the field and has no clutch abilities whatsoever. Clutch defines this team and these players and it is, I believe, Jed's turn to shine and he will with steady playing time.

I support Lugo because he wears the shirt and know he does give his all. It's just at some point you've seen enough to understand the overall package. If you are GM of the team and said, Where can I improve this team?, SS would be on the short list. His days may already be numbered and I'd support an improvement in SS as much as I support Lugo while he's here. I want to WIN!

Yeah, that's it...stick the kid in there...that doesn't always work either.Long story short, you,me,all other Sox fans & The Boston Red Sox know that he's struggling, but he is our shortstop, they are committed to him & we are entering the 2nd half of the season...barring a trade[highly unlikely]he's here.

I'm still realing ovah the loss of Nomah... Actually, as it turned out, we traded him at a GREAT time but who, among you, would have thought of trading Nomah?? Probably a slim few, if any. So it's interesting to debate over who whould stay and who should go. It isn't being disloyal to consider your decisions. Theo certainly isn't dis-loyal, is he? Of course not. I've always liked JD and I'm EXTREMELY happy with him now! And although I will/do support all my guys in uniform when they're on the field, something just hasn't felt 'right' about ss since Nomah was traded. When we get there though, I'll probably let you all know about it!! LOL
