Big Winter Classic
December 1, 2008

NHL announced the setting's for their second Big Winter Classic (Outdoor hockey game) The First was last year in at the Buffalo Bills stadium. The Game was in driving snow, Pittsburgh Penguins V. Buffalo Sabers. The game had the most TV ratings than any other NHL game that season. So much success from last year they have decided to call for another game this season. The venue WRIGLEY FIELD. I posted a blog last year about how friggen cool would it be for Fenway to hold a Big Winter Classic?!!? Boston Bruins V. Montreal Canadians. or Toronto Maple leafs. Either way, I think this is GREAT for the NHL. I would be thrilled to see the NHL play a Pro Hockey game in the Hub at one of the wonders of the world known as Fenway Park. So, wheather or not you are a Pro Hockey fan or not. How cool would it be to see the Bruins take to center stage in Fenway.

	I agree-I had a blast watching that last year and am looking forward to seeing another one this year. It reminded me of playing hockey in the streets in winter with my brothers in the driving snow. Do the kids till do that back east? 12/01/2008 12:20 PM

	I watched the Sabres vs Penguins game and enjoyed it. It's one of those things that's cool once a year. It would be pretty cool to see it at Fenway but I'm not sure if it would be worth it for the 35,000 seats when you're talking 80-100 thousand seats in an NFL stadium. 12/01/2008 12:24 PM

	a big 1 from me! I am not more than a very casual hockey fan, but I did watch the Pens outside and will watch the outside game at Yankee stadium as well...there was just something about seeing a game on ice, imagine this, being played IN THE SNOW! Very exciting stuff! 12/01/2008 12:25 PM

	Thats good to hear (the kids playing pond hockey)Hockey isn't vey big out here with the kids- but I did buy Molly a street hockey set a few years back and had a blast teaching her and the neighborhood kids how to play. I would love to see it at Fenway!! 12/01/2008 12:30 PM

	I agree un- with the damage done to the field...but because it will be so deep into winter i dont think anything would be sacrificed where as in the summertime they run the concerts that DEF takes the toll on the field. 12/01/2008 12:45 PM

	I am not a hocket fan but NO! DON'T RETIRE IT!!! BIG 1 from me! And barring anything unseamly happening to the field, I'd LOVE it if they brought it to Fenway! I wouldn't show up (even if I was in the area - too cold for me!) but I am sure there would be people turned away for that event. 12/01/2008 12:50 PM

	BUt that is just the thing...they do other things that can harm the field, and like Dynasty said, it would be mid winter...the field is going to get a complete overhaul before the baseball season starts anyway. It wouldn't damage the field and it would be cool (cold actually) to see the first place Bruins playing at the Fens! I would totally want tickets to that! 12/01/2008 1:52 PM

Actually, I'm thinking this through again and I know I said I am not a real fan but I do go with my brothers to Providence games when I am in town. THe attraction is the arena is all 'right there' and the tkts aren't expensive. (and it's indoors!) Now I'm thinking of sitting wayyyyyy out on the green monsta and not having a clue who chked who, nevermind where the puck is! I have a hard enough time follwing the game AND the puck when I'm up close up...LOL Still though, hockey fans would turn out in droves and I believe they would enjoy every minute of it. ...View More
