Let's not highlight tasering / brutalilty / hooliganism
October 15, 2008
I received a disturbing e-mail yesterday.
From Sawxheads.com.
Highlighting and headlining a second tasering incident in Tropicana Field. They even made it a "featured blog". It's rather odd.
Whether this is police brutality or a response to English football-style hooliganism, one cannot say. We do not know what prompted the security response in St. Petersburg over the weekend.
If it's an incident of brutality, then we should know that. Hopefully, since the Sawxheads thought that this was a big deal, hopefully they will follow up on it.
The first incident a few weeks back showed one man being tasered, but they declined to show the taseree's behavior the next day -- basking in the glory over the incident. We have no idea as to what the final disposition of that incident was, and frankly, it's not all that important.
If Saturday's debacle was an incident of hooliganism, then it has absolutely no place on this board, because it only gives the individuals involved the attention that they crave.
Let's concentrate on baseball. It's what I come here to talk about and read about, as well as the positive social experiences that are part of being a Red Sox fan.
Yes, some come here to try to promote themselves, either to try to break into media or entertainment. I just skip over them, and that's my choice. But I don't want to see this site become one where we look at fights in the stands.
Sawheads.com staff, I think you messed up on this one, but I'll give you a pass.
