Birds are singing, the sun is shining, it’s a holiday, and life is sweet , enjoying my morning coffee in the warm afterglow of a wonderful performance by Jon Lester. And what makes it all the more enjoyable is the fact it came at the expense of the hated Yankees. Last night Jon Lester pitched nine shutout innings, and the red sox bats came alive to put a hurting on the Yanks to the tune of a 7-0 five hit shutout. Oh how sweet it is .
Lesters five hitter put a stop to the sox five game skid, and in many ways he looked better than he had in his no hit performance, a throwing error by Yankees poster boy Derek Jeter put the sox up early, and they never looked back . Coco Crisp returned from his five game suspension and chipped in with a couple of runs scored and it was 6-0 by the fifth , the remainder of the offence was provided by Jacoby Ellsbury, 1-5 with 2 rbi’s, JD Drew, 2-4, Mike Lowell, 1-2, with a pair of rbi’s, Kevin Youkilis went 2-3, and the captain snapped out of his funk to go 1-3, with an rbi, lugnuts went hitless, but did drive in a run on a sac. fly, he and Coco also stole a base each, Ells was caught stealing.
But the story tonight was John Lester, on this night Lester accomplished two things, he beat the dreaded yanks, and he supplied a much needed day of rest for the sox beleaguered pen.
Lester became the first sox pitcher to throw a shutout at the Yanks since Pedro Martinez accomplished the feat in 2000, and the first time the sox have shut out the yanks at the house that roids built since 1975, a feat accomplished by Rogelio (Roger) Moret , How sweet it truly is ! But don’t get comfortable we do it all over again on friday as Josh Beckett . 7-5, 3.65 does battle with . Darrell Rasner 4-6, 4.46 today at 1:05 p.m.

How do you spell dominance ? John Lester that’s how !
