What a difference a year makes !!

Yes this is the same guy red sox fans wanted to run out of town on a rail last year, same guy, same team, strikingly different results .

I tried to defend him, explained he was playing on a new team , new league, and had an ailing son, being a father myself I knew how that can weigh on a mans mind , but no one wanted to hear it , they bashed him.

Unmercifully,  they called him names , Nancy Drew, and ga ga goo . or just plain dwelled on his past injuries.

I was pulling for this guy in a big way, and now I feel  I can say this with great relish , I told you so !

After putting together a stellar first half , and filling some pretty big shoes in the absence of the Large Father, JD Drew was elected to the all star team, and then there was the game itself, our home boy not only played in the all star game he excelled , he was head and shoulders above the best in the game,  he was the best of the best , the MVP.  Drew waited 11 seasons to make an All-Star team, but just a few pitches to get a huge hit. Drew hit a game tying, two-run homer in his first All-Star at-bat tonight and took home MVP honors after a wild 15 inning 4 hour and 50 minute Midsummer Classic the longest in history by time . he went 2 for 4 with a 2 run homer and a walk to lead the AL to a 4-3 win .  I felt vindicated, I felt a sense of pride for him .

After the game amid a spattering of boos from the Yankee stadium crowd , Drew was presented with a white SUV for winning an award named after Boston Hall of Famer Ted Williams. If this wasn’t justice what is .. Drew was the fifteenth player ever to homer in his first all star game Booed much of the night along with the rest of the Red Sox, Drew was cheered by the Yankee Stadium crowd as he rounded the bases. That in itself must have been a dreamlike experience , so call it what you will, Manifest destiny , Karma, Ying & Yang , I say what goes around comes around, and the world has come full circle for JD Drew. So come on you Drew bashers and you know who you are , its time to eat crow, how would you like that prepared roasted sautéed or deep fried … lol

Step right up get it while its hot and take it like a man
