 Some people debate the existence of clutch, I do not, I have seen clutch first hand , first with Yastrzemski, and later with Papi ,and I know it exists . I know clutch when I see it, and last night JD Drew was Clutch .

After taking an early four to nothing lead in our half of the first , the Angles were clawing their way back into the contest , with single runs in the 1^st , 4^{t, h} 5^th , 7^th and 8^th it looked as if the game was slipping away from the home town team , enter the large father, who hit a monster blast that was both nearly a home run, and nearly caught at the same time .

In a controversial move Tito removed the large father for a pinch runner , and Coco Crisp nearly was picked off ,Tito could have very easily been made the goat , but J.D Drew would have none of that,  as he proved clutch exists, and hit a beautiful,  majestic shot to center which scored Crisp and put the sox ahead 7-5 . Making his manager look like a genius and putting the game in the capable hands of Jonathan Papelbon . Having the guts to remove his best hitter when he did, showed faith in his team and great intestinal fortitude on Titos part .

What a difference a year makes , yes this is the same J.D. Drew sox fans wanted to run out of town on a rail last year , same guy same team strikingly different results. After putting together a stellar first half and filling some pretty big shoes in the absence of big Papi, JD Drew was elected to the all star team and not only played but , excelled, as he was named all star MVP.

After being injured for most of September, playing in only two games , Drew abstained from rehab , declared himself ready to play, and was added to the playoff roster, the move paid dividends in a big way last night, as Drew became a hero once again and took his place in Red Sox lore . So yes I believe in clutch , I believe it resides in the team from Yawkey way , I believe it resides in J.D. Drew .

I must admit I was pulling for this guy in a big way and now I feel I can say this once again with great relish I told you so !!!

So here”s to clutch, may it remain til the championship is firmly in sox hands .
