Who is the greatest Catcher,to ever don a red sox uniform? Simple direct and to the point . I will put up a few suggestions and some stats as to why I think they are worthy of consideration. If you have someone I may have overlooked please add them . At the end of the day I will tally the votes and post the results . And please respect others opinions . Thank you...

UGH, this is a tough one. Obvious choice is Fisk but Tek has done great things as well. Geddy also has a special place in my heart. So I'll go in order of favorites. Fisk, Tek, Geddy, and Pena.

Hands down,Carlton Fisk will always be the standard that the catcher's position will be measured on here in Boston.IMO,the handling of a pitching staff has developed into a 'cottage industry' of sorts in baseball, just as the usage of specialized pitchers has. That being said,it is clear to anyone how valuable Jason Varitek is/has become to the Red Sox. I believe that how he has become a vital point in regards to the part pitching plays in baseball now... will play a role in the years to come for every other team in MLB. It must be said that you should understand that if a catcher doesn't produce offensively, but is invaluable to the team in the handling of the pitching staff could become they way the position is looked at in the future. ...View More

Tek.... Fisk's HR didn't get 'em a ring. Tek has been the Captain for 2 WS wins. And Fisk was my favorite player for a looooooong time.

TEK ! when you look up super-glue in the dictionary , you see a picture of Jason Varitek 2 time world champ , 4 no-nos , and an all around hell of a nice guy . he may not be all that at the dish , but , he MORE than makes up for that in the rest of his game . however , like whitey and most of us 70's & 80's guys and gals , i liked pudge a lot too . BUT , Tek edges him out for my vote . nice post Ron ... GO RED SOX !!!! ...View More

Another tough one, on my "Dreamteam" I have Fisk, and the main two reasons for that are the HOF and his retired number.
