Another great piece sure to bring out some debate from all who read it-thanks Reverend !!! In my mind's train of thought,it's a tie between Carl Yastrzemski and George Scott. There have been many, many players who have played the first base position for the Red Sox who merit consideration here;any of the players who played before I started to follow the Red Sox are very good choices.I just didn't have the pleasure of seeing them play the game 'live' if you will;but this is my 'choice' for the question asked here. ...View More

I gotta go against the grain here. When I think of Yaz I think of Left Field so while Yaz played a lot of first base, I don't consider him a first baseman. As far as best I'd have to go with XX (Although Mientkiewicz was so slick it's not funny) But gotta agree with Joe, in the years to come Youk might be #1.

BUT , JIMMY FOXX WAS THE BEST FIRST BASEMAN EVER...FOR THE RED SOX ..HANDS DOWN , JUST LOOK AT THE BATTING NUMBERS , THATS WHAT GIVES HIM THE ULTIMATE EDGE. ...View More
