 Who is the greatest 1st Baseman to ever don a red sox uniform? Simple direct and to the point . I will put up a few suggestions and some stats as to why I think they are worthy of consideration. I If you have someone I may have overlooked please add them . please respect others opinions . Thank you . From here on out it gets even more difficult as we go on , culminating with left field, which is next in the series , if you wish to do starting pitchers and closers let me know. Ty Ron.
1) Stuffy Mcginest 19 seasons .307 career avg 327 career high played on 1918 world championship team
2) Jimmy Foxx, the beast , he would have been Babe Ruth if there were no Ruth, played 20 seasons ,.325 career avg. .364 career high, 534 career home runs , career high 58 with Philly, 50 with Boston, 9 time all star, 1933 triple crown winner .356, 48, 163 , 3 time MVP. 1932,1933,and 1938, 2 time batting champ, 4 time home run champ, lead the league in rbis 3 xs . Remember Ruth played back then .
3) George Scott, Boomer, 14 seasons .268 career avg..306 career high ,271 career home Runs ,three time all star, 8 time gold glove winner , led the league in home runs 1975, led in total bases 2ce and rbis once . Part of the 67 impossible dream team.
4) Carl Yastrzemski, played 23 seasons 18 time all star started 1st base left field and centerfield for the all stars . Seven time gold glove winner , 3 time batting champ, last triple crown winner 1967 .326 44 , 121, also led in runs scored 112, career avg. .285 career high .329 452 home runs and 3419 hits ..you will seE him again when we do left fielders and dh’s
5) Tony Perez 23 Seasons .279 career avg. 317 season high avg. 379 home runs 7 time allstar plyed three years here near the end of his career . 1967 All Star MVP
